Guys, when we saw Sucker Punch’s surprise bloody samurai trailer as part of Sony’s E3 presentation, we lost our damn minds. Ghost of Tsushima definitely has our attention.

The beautiful Akira Kurosawa inspired trailer takes place during a particularly bloody part of Japanese history. You take on the role of Jin Sakai, one of the last of a badass clan of Samurai, through a Japanese saga that takes place during the Mongolian Invasion.

What begins with beautiful fields with wind whipping lightly over the landscape, turns to blood-soaked battles between rival forces and an intense battle against a revenge driven friend.

There is definitely a Witcher III feel to the games approach, along with what looks like much more controlled sword play. With each parry and slash making its specific character animation and real time mortal wounds.

It just looks plain amazing. I’m hoping between this and the more supernaturally centered, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, that we are at the beginning of a new video game trend revolving around Samurai.

What do you guys think of Ghost of Tsushima? Are you into the gory swordplay of the Samurai? Let us know in the comments below.
