David Tennant plays bad rather well. His roles as Kilgrave in Jessica Jones and his psychopathic role of Cale Erendreich in Good Samaritan are both dark explorations on their own terms. Now, Tennant is set to play real life Scottish serial killer, Dennis Nilsen in Des.
Des is based on the true crime bio by Brian Masters and will examine Nilsen and the murders of several young men in a three-part miniseries on ITV.
“David Tennant is going to be brilliant as Dennis Nilsen, and with Daniel Mays as Jay and Jason Watkins as Brian, this has an incredible cast to bring this story to screen,” said ITV drama boss Polly Hill, who commissioned the series.
Nilsen was eventually captured due to police finding pieces of flesh and bone in drains as part of an investigation. The miniseries is also reported to examine the impact that the murders had on the victims’ families.
Tennant is my first choice for everything. So, I’m totally behind him getting into the complexities and darkness of this role. From The Doctor in Doctor Who to Crowley inGood Omens, Tennant has remained an all time favorite.
Any of my fellow Tennant fans out there? Excited to see him take this role on? Let us know in the comments section.
