This, in my opinion, is a genius marketing move by the marketing minds over at Lionsgate. How do you drum up a buzz about a horror movie where the killers invade a loving family’s home? Have the character from the movie start invading the movie posters of other happy family films – genius! The juxtaposition of such an ominous figure embedded in an ad for a fun loving family film really grabs your attention.
Lionsgate is set to release Robert De Niro’s “The Big Wedding” comedy, about two families coming together for the wedding of their children, on April 26th. We’ve already seen the poster and lots of trailers. But now the studio has decided to use the film to promote its other release, the horror movie “You’re Next.”
In a bizarre cross-promotion campaign, posters of “The Big Wedding” have been popping up in movie theaters. But these posters also have a shot of one of the masked murderers from “You’re Next,” which also revolves around a family reunion, but in a terrifying way.
Watch the movie trailer for “You’re Next” below:
When the Davison family comes under attack during their wedding anniversary getaway, the gang of mysterious killers soon learns that one of victims harbors a secret talent for fighting back.
