There are certain things that set off a red flag in the back of your mind, such as a white van without windows.  Why shouldn’t it, after all?  Isn’t this the trademark of pedophiles and murderers everywhere?  Dirty white vans without windows; seriously, what good can they be up to?

Well it turns out there is a new van out there in Lee’s Summit, Montana that people all over the internet are raising an eyebrow to.  Town resident William Hodson’s self-created Gacymobile is gathering reactions online that are running the gambit, from funny to creepy and even outrage.

You read that right, a Gacymobile.  This van features the smiling mug of Pogo the Clown himself, also known as the alter ego of serial killer John Wayne Gacy.  Between 1972 and 1978, Gacy tortured and killed at least thirty three boys and young men in Illinois.  With the exception of his first victim who was stabbed to death, the remaining 32 victims were strangled or asphyxiated at the hands of Gacy in his home.

Despite the fact Gacy faced his execution by lethal injection in 1994, his crimes as well as the image of Pogo the Clown still live on today, so when Hodson’s van motored around town people surely recognized the grinning mug of the sadistic clown plastered on the side of his vehicle.

Fellow Lee Summit’s resident  and true crime buff Samantha Gaither recognized the image right away.  She told local news station Fox 4 “I looked over and I saw this clown on it, and I go: ‘No way is that what I think it is.  There’s no way I saw that on the side of this van.”

After snapping a picture, Gaither put the image on the My Favorite Murder Kansas City Page where the attention for the van skyrocketed.

Hodson told Kansas City Fox 4 no one had recognized the clown until the internet caught wind of it.  “I didn’t do it to offend anybody, and I would say I’m sorry if you don’t get my sense of humor, and it may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but that’s why we’re all different.  I personally find it kind of funny.”

Hodson further went on to say “Come up and enjoy it.  Get your picture taken, and enjoy it for what it is—a light-hearted joke.”
