No it wasn’t a mad man’s home movie or another remake of “Willard”. FX did however give us a quick look at a viral teaser that may have had some people scratching their heads during commercials for this weekend’s Walking Dead mid-season finale.
Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan co-authored “The Strain” a trilogy of books (The Strain, The Fall, and The Eternal night”) that were released from 2010 to 2012 and dared to make vampires scary again at a time when they were too busy sparkling and being brooding at the box office.
“The Strain” was a great read and was equally horrifying. It mixed in elements from “Outbreak”,“Night of the Living Dead” and “The Omega Man” while giving descriptions that set up a world that only Del Toro is capable of dreaming up.
Del Toro and Hogan focus on the biology of a vampire and what a human goes through when turned into one that manages to keep it grounded enough to imagine it really happening.
Carlton Cuse will head up the show over at FX along with a fast that includes David Bradely, Sean Austin and Mia Maestro.
Here is our first look at things to come from below and is somewhat reminiscent of a experience I once had in Taco Bell that was equally terrifying.
