One of the most iconic vampire franchises continued last year with From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, an expansion on the world presented in the original film that aired on the brand spankin’ new El Rey Network. Due to the success of the first season, a second is headed our way, and a familiar face is joining the mix.
Danny Trejo is the actor most synonymous with the world of From Dusk Till Dawn, portraying Razor Charlie in the 1996 original and also appearing in both direct-to-video sequels. It was only a matter of time before Trejo boarded the television series, and today comes word that he has.
El Rey and Miramax just broke the news that Trejo will be playing ‘The Regulator’ in the show’s upcoming second season, the character described as a horrifying agent of evil who has been summoned to perform a deadly errand. Sounds right up Trejo’s alley, am I right?
Also added to the cast for Season 2 is Briana Evigan, known to horror fans for her roles in Sorority Row and Mother’s Day. She plays Sonja, an American expatriate working as a tattoo artist who also has a sideline forging papers and passports out of her back room.
Season Two begins with our characters in their separate worlds—Santanico [Eiza González] and Richie [Zane Holtz] are outside Houston, living like Bonnie and Clyde; Seth [D.J. Cotrona] and Kate [Madison Davenport] are scraping by South of the Border; and Freddie Gonzalez [Jessie Garcia] is protecting his wife and young daughter in a Houston suburb. And Carlos Madrigal [Wilmer Valderrama] and Scott Fuller [Brandon Soo Hoo] emerge from the Titty Twister changed men. They will all come together once again—this time facing off against an even bigger threat.
