Happy Friday the 13th! To all us horror fans, this is a highly celebrated holiday. Lucky for us, there’s a Friday the 13th Part III screening this Friday night in Los Angeles to help us celebrate.
The movie starts at 11:59pm on Friday, January 13, 2017. Tickets are available online for $12.
Actor Larry Zerner, who plays the goofy Shelly in Friday the 13th Part III, will be in attendance as well.
Friday the 13th Part III depicts Jason surviving the wound he got in Part 2. Jason is angry, rightfully so, and seeks revenge on anyone and everyone who gets near his territory: Crystal Lake. A group of friends head out to the cabin near the lake and get into some trouble. First, there’s an argument with random bikers then the real terror begins when Jason stalks the group.
Friday the 13th Part III was directed by Steve Miner and it was the first in the franchise to be shot in 3D.
Jason Voorhees’ iconic mask is also unveiled for the first time in Part III. The film is pretty entertaining even in 2D because it’s easy to spot the scenes that were meant to come out at you.
Creating the effects took a long time to generate back then since films being produced for 3D was such a new concept.
Friday the 13th Part III changes the franchise forever; it established Jason’s new look with a hockey mask.
Fun fact: the 3D effects supervisor, Martin Jay Sadoff, created Jason’s mask because he enjoyed hockey and the mask happened to be on set.
Friday the 13th Part III will be shown on Friday, January 13, 2016 at Cinefamily Theater, located at 611 N. Fairfax Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90036.
The show starts at midnight.
