It’s been a decade since we last had an official Friday the 13th film, and with the way things are going between Victor Miller and Sean Cunningham it seems that’s the way things are going to be for a while.
Luckily for fans, a brand new project is emerging from Voorhees Films that just might fill the gap. It’s called 13: Fanboy and this project has some serious franchise pedigree.
The film found its genesis in the messages that franchise star Deborah Voorhees has received over the years from fans.
“Horror fans are the best,” she said, “but every once in a while, you get someone who feels scary. I’ve received texts saying ‘He’s watching you right now’ or ‘wouldn’t it be cool if you were killed in the way that you were in the film?'”
The experiences creeped her out, and she realized that if they were scary to her, they might just scare a larger audience, as well. With the idea in mind, she sat down with writer/producer Joel Paul Resig and penned the script for 13: Fanboy.
The film tells the story of an obsessive fan who begins stalking former female stars of the franchise.
Voorhees, who also directs, will star in the project alongside a whole host of former franchise stars including Judie Aronson (Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter), CJ Graham (Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI), Thom Matthews (Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI), Tracie Savage (Friday the 13th Part III), and Ron Sloan (Friday the 13th: A New Beginning).
In addition, Vincente DiSanti whose Friday the 13th fan film, Never Hike Alone has taken the internet and festival circuit by storm, will appear in the film.
The film is not an official Paramount release and is not a part of the original franchise, but will stand as its own project.
