Malcolm McDowell will take the lead in a new indie horror film from director and producer David Carson. The two previously worked together on Star Trek: Generations.
After the death of his wife, a once famous painter (McDowell) takes up an art residency. He soon fears, however, that the house is haunted and that those resident spirits are intent on driving him mad.
McDowell is a veteran when it comes to the genre filmmaking. The British actor has appeared in any number of thrillers, chillers, and slashers in his long and distinguished career including A Clockwork Orange, Rob Zombie’s Halloween, Time After Time, and Firestarter 2: Rekindled in which he took on the role of John Rainbird previously played by George C. Scott. The actor will also be seen in the upcoming Amazon series Truth Seekers alongside Nick Frost and Simon Pegg.
Carson has predominantly directed for television on series like Smallville, The 10th Kingdom, and The Dresden Files with occasional forays onto the big screen. His most recent film was 2004’s Unstoppable.
There is no word yet on the filming schedule, release date, or further casting for The Benefactor, but iHorror will keep you posted on all the details as they become available.
