Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted a main installment in the video game franchise from Steel Wool Studios has officially launched for the Nintendo Switch platform. It was originally released in VR on the Oculus in 2019.
The point-and-click horror game set in a fictional pizza shop a la Chuck E. Cheese allows players to take on a series of classic and original mini-games based on previous franchise entries that increase in difficulty as the game progresses. The game also features advanced HD rumble technology.
Players in the game must avoid the sentient, hostile animatronic characters Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie the Rabbit, Chica the Chicken, and Foxy the Pirate Fox while performing maintenance tasks inside the pizzeria.
There is something undeniably creepy about sentient animatronic cartoon characters, and the game is filled with more jump scares and suspense than one would expect from its relatively simple premise.
The first game in the franchise was created by Scott Cawthorn back in 2014 and became an overnight sensation that has spawned multiple sequels, spin-offs, rip-offs, and even novels. A film adaptation of the series is currently in development with director Chris Columbus and Blumhouse studios.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted is available on the Nintendo e-store for $29.99. The game is also available on the PlayStation 4, Steam, and the Oculus Rift.
