The first trailer for The Meg has splashed onto the internet! We got a sneak peak the other day with a brand new image showing off the scale of the enormous shark. Now we finally get to see it in action. This looks like B-movie gold.
Check out the trailer right here!
The Meg stars Jason Statham, Li Bingbing, Rainn Wilson, Ruby Rose, Winston Chao, and Cliff Curtis. Statham plays a diver going toe-to-finn with the monstrous creature after it attacks an unsuspecting submersible with people aboard.
The movie promises to be pure popcorn chomping fun, as the trailer shows off plenty of deep water thrills, humor, and a big screen feast for the eyes. Statham is in his wheelhouse as the stoic badass, while The Office’s Rainn Wilson looks to be providing plenty of snarky comedic relief.
The trailer opens with a little girl having an uncomfortably up-close encounter with the Megalodon. We then see the massive shark tear apart a giant squid before the underwater crew’s eyes. Statham makes it his team’s mission to take the monstrosity down before it lays waste to crowded beaches and boats in the shark’s path.
The latter half of the trailer cues in the upbeat, classic Sinatra tune “Somewhere Beyond the Sea” as the shark wreaks havoc. This movie clearly is all about a good time and not taking itself too seriously. It’s a movie about a rugged dude taking on an absurdly giant fish, and it knows it.
The Meg will be flooding movie theaters August 10, 2018. It definitely looks like it should be worth checking out in 3D and IMAX this summer!
