We learned last week that The Ring franchise will continue later this year with Rings, set to be a prequel to the 2002 remake. The film will tell the origin story of that infamous VHS tape, as well as delve into the backstory of evil kid Samara.

F. Javier Gutierrez is in the director’s chair for Rings, with young Italian actress Matilda Lutz cast in the role of Samara. This week, Gutierrez has begun teasing the film with behind the scenes sneak peeks over on Instagram, giving us our first look at the new Samara.

Check out a handful of those images below, which include makeup and wardrobe tests as well as a piece of storyboard art. And be sure to follow Gutierrez on Instagram for daily updates throughout the filming of the prequel.

Rings is set for release on November 13th, 2015.

To date, the entirety of The Ring franchise, both the original series and the American remake series, consists of a whopping nine feature films. Rings will be lucky number ten.
