'Deadpool 2' - 20th Century Fox

The final Deadpool 2 trailer has dropped online, and is calling the other superhero universes out! 20th Century Fox (“The studio that killed Wolverine”…and Alien 3) is making it no secret that their new superhero franchise wants to go head-to-head with Marvel/DC taking jabs at each studio’s current universes. They even go so far as to poke fun at Josh Brolin’s other highly anticipated supervillain role Thanos in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War. DC, on the other hand, receives a wicked burn for their attempts to create a “darker” superhero universe. 20th Century Fox’s next big outside-the-box superhero film will be their horror focused The New Mutants coming next year.

Besides the wink-wink meta-humor, the trailer gives us a better introduction to the X-Force, featuring Bedlam, Shatterstar, Domino, and…Peter? Alright, seeing Bill Skarsgård (aka Pennywise from IT) as part of X-Force is cool, but, seriously, Peter had to be my favorite part of the trailer. He’s a magoo, soccer dad of a man, who answers Deadpool’s ad for superheros, and ends up skydiving out of a plane looking like a penguin in plaid. I have a feeling Peter will do for Deadpool 2 what Barb did for Stranger Things.

The two minute trailer also boasts more slow-mo action and badass fight choreography than a 300 film. There’s a ton of unseen footage and extended clips to drool over for the next month, including a gripping convoy heist, an apparent prison break, and a street fight with Colossus. John Wick and Atomic Blonde director David Leitch looks to be bringing the heat with his extensive knowledge of hard-hitting action and stunts. Original director Tim Miller is currently working on the new Terminator reboot coming next year.
