South African filmmaker Darrell Roodt directs Lake Placid: Legacy, the sixth installment of the franchise and the only one that is a direct sequel to the original. iHorror has an exclusive clip.
Roodt has some experience with creature features, his credits include Prey (2007), and Cryptid (2006). He’s also taken a stab at nursery horror with The Lullaby (2017) and even updated a classic with Dracula 3000 (2004).
In Lake Placid: Legacy a giant crocodile threatens a team of shady explorers who must take on the beast if any of them hope to survive. The movie originally appeared on SyFy channel in May 2018.
Here’s the official synopsis:
When a group of young explorers venture to a mysterious lake, they discover an island harboring an abandoned lab facility with a horrific legacy: the island is home to a deadly predator. Before they can turn back the crew gets dragged into a battle for their lives – former enemies will quickly need to put their egos aside and work together if there is any hope for survival.

Lake Placid: Legacy debuts on digital and DVD September 4 by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
The film has a run time of approximately 90 minutes and is rated R for creature violence and related gore.
