I say it time and time again. More Evil Dead news is good news. The latest bit of news out of the deadite camp is that Evil Dead Rise has begun production… today. Hooray!
Originally believed to begin production later this year, it was a big and proper nice surprise to see director Lee Cronin posting a very cool photo from his Twitter signalling the beginning of production on Evil Dead Rise. Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi are on as producers on this one chapter; that will see the deadites enter an urban environment and leave the confines of the woods and the cabin.
For the moment not much is known about where in the Evil Dead timeline Rise will fit. For example, will it be a sequel to the original trilogy of Bruce Campbell – Ashley Williams outings or will it perhaps take off from the reboot? Or maybe it will be a prequel all together? One thing is for sure, more Evil Dead is good.
Both Lilly Sullivan and Alyssa Sutherland are set to star in Evil Dead Rise and we are pretty dang excited about that as well. Lee Cronin who directed Hole in the Ground, now sets his sights on deadites. After seeing A Hole in the Ground we are holding out hope. The films are vastly different. Considering the punk rock pacing of the Evil Dead films and the more slow burn and glacial pace of Hole in the Ground. It will be interesting to see how he takes to the material. Like all of us, Cronin is a fan of the franchise, so I’m sure he is going to do his dangdest to give us a proper Evil Dead film.
What do you guys think about the cool production news and photo for Evil Dead Rise? Let us know in the comments section.
