After grossing $119 million in the global box office, Columbia Pictures has given the greenlight to Escape Room 2, a sequel to Escape Room, which released in January.
Director Adam Robitel (The Taking of Deborah Logan, Insidious: The Last Key), who brought his considerable talent to the first film, will return to helm the sequel according to Deadline along with screenwriter Bragi F. Schut.
Escape Room told the story of six strangers trapped in a deadly maze who had to put aside their differences, work together, and ultimately, lay their darkest secrets on the table in order to survive.
Tayor Russell (Lost in Space) and Logan Miller (Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse) led a cast that included Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood) and Tyler Labine (Tucker and Dale VS. Evil).
