A new Planet of the Apes chapter is apparently no sort of monkey business under the Disney banner. 20th Century Fox, now under Disney, has tapped Wes Ball to develop a new Planet of the Apes film, Deadline reports.

Wes Ball, who previously directed The Maze Runner, is now in charge of coming up with something ‘new.’ We don’t know if that means a complete reboot, or if that means we will continue from where War of the Planet of the Apes left off.

Since 68′ the Planet of the Apes franchise has spawned five OG films, one Tim Burton remake and more recently, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn and War.

Without director Matt Reeves involvement in any capacity, I think a complete reboot is in order. Then again, it would be kinda swell to see Battle of the Planet of the Apes.

The whole announcement has Disney+ subscribers voting for a Disney TV series, which might be a good idea in its own right, if done well.

For me personally, none have ever stood up to the original five films. But, what do you guys think? What direction would you like to see the Apes franchise take? Let us know in the comments section.
