Halloween episodes of popular sitcoms can always be fun and this year The Goldbergs are taking it one step further and bringing in a true icon to celebrate the holiday: Robert Englund as Freddy Kruger.
For those of you who don’t know The Goldbergs takes place in “1980 something” and follows the slice of life moments of young, aspiring real-life producer Adam Goldberg.
The show is full of 80s pop culture references so it makes sense that Freddy Kruger would pop up at some point. The original A Nightmare on Elm Street premiered in theaters in 1984.
ABC announced on Friday that Englund is coming to primetime to reprise his role as the movie monster for an episode titled “Nightmare on Elk Avenue” which will center on the fears of the timid lead Adam.
Englund called his guest appearance “a spooky valentine to the fans.”
The sixth season of The Goldbergs premieres on Sept. 26 at 8 pm Eastern, and the Halloween episode will air in October.
