Don’t Breathe 2 is headed our way with Rodo Sayagues, Fede Alvarez’s frequent collaborator, sitting in the director’s chair.
Sayagues and Alvarez wrote the the first film which was a surprise hit at the box office pulling in more than $157 million on a budget of only $10 million. The two men have co-written the script for the sequel, which will begin filming in April 2020.
Don’t Breathe centered on a small group of people who break into the home of a blind man (Stephen Lang) with the intention of robbing him only to find out that even without sight, he was far more dangerous than they could ever be.
Plot details are being withheld at this time, though according to The Hollywood Reporter, it will take place several years after the first film and center on the blind man, attempting to live in solitude, when the sins of his past rear their ugly heads.
Alvarez will produce the film along with Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert with Lang returning to the play the role simply credited in the first film as The Blind Man.
Lang was terrifying in the role and it will be interesting to see him go back into this particular creative space again.
