Disturbed Man Drives Cross-Country with a Corpse

Published

In the movies, there’s something inherently funny about people hanging out with a corpse. The Griswolds drove around with their deceased Aunt Edna in National Lampoon’s Vacation, and it made for a pretty hilarious sequence of events. And then you’ve got Weekend at Bernie’s, an entire movie that played up the humor of palling around with a dead body.

But in real life, it’s just weird. And really, really disturbing.

Corpse1

As reported by FOX 2 News, a 62-year-old Michigan man by the name of Ray Tomlinson (above) drove 26-hours with his dead girlfriend propped up in the front seat of his van, along with his (still alive) 92-year-old mother in the backseat. Tomlinson drove from Michigan to Arizona to pick up the woman from the mental health facility she had been residing in, and police believe that she ingested a handful of Oxycodone pills shortly after her beau picked her up, which almost immediately resulted in her death.

It was hours before Tomlinson realized that his girlfriend was dead, initially believing her to be in a deep state of sleep. Upon making the shocking realization, Tomlinson did what anyone in this strange internet age of ours would do; he consulted Google, and was informed by the search engine that he had 48 hours to bring the quickly stiffening corpse to a medical examiner.

And so, thinking he could make it back to Michigan with plenty of time to spare, Tomlinson decided to simply prop the 31-year-old corpse up, slap some sunglasses on her and put a teddy bear on her lap, and continue the road trip as planned. Oh and did I mention that the air conditioner in the van didn’t work? Yea. I think you get the idea.

It was only after the Arizona mental health facility phoned Tomlinson to make sure the woman was alright that he confessed that she was in fact dead, which led police to apprehend him and put a stop to his disturbing road trip.

No charges have been filed against Tomlinson, and the case is currently being reviewed by local authorities.

Can’t make this stuff up!

Watch ‘The Burning’ At The Location Where It Was Filmed

Published

on

Fangoria is reporting that fans of the 1981 slasher The Burning will be able to have a screening of the film at the location where it was filmed. The movie is set at Camp Blackfoot which is actually the Stonehaven Nature Preserve in Ransomville, New York.

This ticketed event will take place on August 3. Guests will be able to take a tour of the grounds as well as enjoy some campfire snacks along with the screening of The Burning.

The Burning

The film came out in the early ’80s when teen slashers were being churned out in magnum force. Thanks to Sean S. Cunningham’s Friday the 13th, filmmakers wanted to get in on the low-budget, high-profit movie market and a casket load of these types of films were produced, some better than others.

The Burning is one of the good ones, mostly because of the special effects from Tom Savini who had just come off of his groundbreaking work on Dawn of the Dead and Friday the 13th. He declined to do the sequel because of its illogical premise and instead signed on to do this movie. Also, a young Jason Alexander who would later go on to play George in Seinfeld is a featured player.

Because of its practical gore, The Burning had to be heavily edited before it received an R-rating. The MPAA was under the thumb of protest groups and political bigwigs to censor violent films at the time because slashers were just so graphic and detailed in their gore.

Tickets are $50, and if you want a special t-shirt, that will cost you another $25, You can get all the information by visiting the On Set Cinema webpage.
