Panama is set to release its very first horror film this month exclusively on Amazon. Written by J. Oskura Najera (Metal Creepers) and directed by Sol Moreno, Diablo Rojo PTY digs deep into the world of Panamanian and Costa Rican folklore and their tales of La Tulivieja.
Similar in description to a harpy, La Tulivieja can appear as a half-bird half-woman hybrid but will also appear as a woman of short stature with large breasts that constantly secrete milk causing hordes of ants to follow in her wake. Depending upon the region, she has varying motivations, but she is a deadly force to be reckoned with no matter where she turns up.
The films draws upon these ancient, indigenous legends to create something quite interesting for viewers, and from the looks of the trailer, it’s going to be a wild ride.
From the official synopsis of Diablo Rojo PTY:
A “Diablo Rojo” bus driver, his helper, a priest, and two policemen fall victim to a mysterious spell and end up lost somewhere in the Chiriqui jungle, where they will have to survive the creatures that inhabit the roads, with the old bus as their only refuge.
The film stars Carlos Carrasco (Speed) and Leo Wiznitzer (Causa Justa).
