The film festival favorite Sator is getting a wide North American release from 1091 Pictures.
Jordan Graham’s story about a family isolated in the woods haunted by a demon was well-received by audiences at the 2019 Fantasia International Film Festival, Telluride Horror Show, and the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival according to Variety.
Sator was written, directed, produced and edited by Graham who also scored the film.
“’Sator’ is quite personal to me,” Graham said in a statement. “It delves into my family’s dark history with mental illness surrounding a supernatural entity, and uses home video footage to create an interwoven piece between documentary and fiction. After working on this project for seven years, I am so grateful that 1091 has picked up the film, allowing it to finally find an audience.”
No word yet on when this title will be released.
A malevolent spirit menaces a family already frayed at the edges. An exercise in horror minimalism, SATOR draws you in and holds you captive, and then freezes your blood with freakish visitations and moments of unflinching violence.
