‘Deep Blue Sea 2’ Trailer Ain’t Half Bad

by Timothy Rawles

The trailer for Deep Blue Sea 2 debuted online this week and honestly, it doesn’t look that bad. Of course, we all know trailers these days are pretty much spoilers without the warning, but it doesn’t look like this one strays from the source material too much so the only surprise will be how good or bad the sharks look.

The 1999 original, directed by Renny Harlin, was a surprise hit starring (briefly) Samuel L. Jackson and followed a team of researchers who experiment on sharks to see if they can create a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease.

Naturally, beasts outwit the humans and all hell breaks loose on the huge research lab located in the middle of the ocean.

With great effects for the time and pulse-pounding action set pieces the film managed to win over audiences, also making fans of LL Cool J wonder why he never used a parrot in his act before.

Deep Blue Sea 2 is scheduled to premiere on the SharkFy, sorry SyFy channel this summer, but a street date for the DVD has yet to be announced, sources only saying to expect it later this year.

We’ll have to see how we feel about the movie then.

Here is the official synopsis of Deep Blue Sea 2.

“Shark conservationist Dr. Misty Calhoun (Danielle Savre) is invited to consult on a new, top secret project run by pharmaceutical billionaire Carl Durant (Michael Beach). When science meddles with the time-tested process of nature and nurture, the outcome can be deadly.”
