This past June, we reported that digital site Crackle would be releasing a feature film of the mindless, popular zombie game Dead Rising. At the time, it was only just announced, but today we gain a little bit of steam as The Wrap is reporting that Leprechaun: Origins director Zach Lipovsky is on board to bring the feature to life.
Dead Rising takes place during a large-scale zombie outbreak. When a mandatory government vaccine fails to stop the infection from spreading, the four leads must evade infection while also pursuing the root of the epidemic — with all signs pointing to a government conspiracy. Politics, public paranoia, and media coverage will all play a key role in the movie’s story.
Nobody is set to star as of yet and the characters to be used in the film are unknown, but Zach Lipovsky is joining writer Tim Carter, producer Tomas Harlan and executive producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura.
