Den of Geek announced earlier today that Tom Hanks is returning to NBC, this time in animated form, to reprise his role as David S. Pumpkins!

The crazy character sketch from October 2016 went viral after it aired on Saturday Night Live.  It revolved around the mysterious David S. Pumpkins who, along with two dancing skeletons, would appear before participants on a haunted elevator ride.  The character’s signature pumpkin covered suit and Hanks wild delivery was an unexpected audience favorite.

Hanks will re-team with Mikey Day and Bobby Moynihan, who wrote the original sketch called “Haunted Elevator”, to voice the animated version of the colorful characters.  It’s also been reported that Peter Dinklage of Game of Thrones fame has voiced a character in the animated special.

With Lorne MIchaels producing, we’re left wondering if we’ll be treated to the voice talents of any other SNL stars on the animated special.

Could we have a new holiday hit on our hands?  Time will tell, but you can bet we’ll be tuning in to NBC on Saturday, October 28th to find out!  Check out last year’s performance by Hanks, Day, and Moynihan and relive the glory that is David S. Pumpkins!
