Many fans know Dario Argento’s films like Suspiria, Phenomena (my personal favorite), Deep Red and so on, but in 1996 he directed a little thriller starring his daughter Asia Argento called The Stendhal Syndrome. It was released on DVD and Blu-ray years ago, but now Blue Underground made the announcement today, via Facebook, that it will be getting a brand new transfer for Blu-ray!
“We can finally confirm that the Argento title we’re working on is a newly remastered version of THE STENDHAL SYNDROME! We’ve gone back to the original camera negative and done a new 2K scan in it’s proper 1.85:1 theatrical aspect ratio. The new restoration is absolutely gorgeous! Our upcoming Limited Edition Blu-ray will also include several new Extras, including the previously mentioned interview with Asia Argento!!”
The Stendahl Syndrome stars Asia Argento as a young policewoman slowly goes insane while tracking down an elusive serial rapist/killer through Italy when she herself becomes a victim of the brutal man’s obsession. It’s an interesting flick and I’m looking forward to seeing this one restored. No release date as of yet, but as soon as that’s announced we’ll let you know.
