French filmmaker Alexandre Aja has made quite a name for himself on the horror scene, coming into our lives in 2003 with High Tension, which he followed up with big screen remakes of The Hills Have Eyes and Piranha. Most recently, Aja served as co-writer and producer of last year’s Maniac remake, and he next returns to the director’s chair with Horns.
An adaptation of the same-named New York Times best-selling novel written by Joe Hill (son of Stephen King), Horns centers on the character Ig Perrish (Daniel Radcliffe), who becomes the number one suspect for the violent rape and murder of his girlfriend, Merrin (Juno Temple).
Hungover from a night of hard drinking, Ig awakens one morning to find horns starting to grow from his own head and soon realizes their power drives people to confess their sins and give in to their most selfish and unspeakable impulses – an effective tool in his quest to discover the true circumstances of his late girlfriend’s tragedy and for exacting revenge on her killer.
Check out the just released teaser trailer for Horns below, which is dated for release in the UK on Halloween. No date has been set for the film here in the states.
