The Rental Dave Franco

Dave Franco (The Disaster Artist, If Beale Street Could Talk) will make his directorial debut with horror-thriller The Rental, and he’s cast some stellar talent.

A recent announcement shared that Alison Brie (Community, GLOW) and Dan Stevens (The Guest, Apostle) will join Sheila Vand (A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night) and Jeremy Allen White (Shameless).

As described by Deadline, The Rental is a character-driven horror thriller about two couples who rent a vacation home for what should be a celebratory weekend get-away.

The script is co-written by Franco (who is also Brie’s husband) and writer/director Joe Swanberg (V/H/S, Drinking Buddies). Horror fans may also recognize Swanberg from his acting work in Ti West’s The Sacrament and Adam Wingard’s You’re Next and A Horrible Way to Die.

Ramona’s Vince Jolivette is producing The Rental alongside Elizabeth Haggard, Dave Franco, and Black Bear’s Ben Stillman and Teddy Schwarzman. Joe Swanberg and Chris Storer are also producing, with Black Bear’s Michael Heimler executive producing along with Sean Durkin.

In a statement released by Deadline, Franco said he “couldn’t be more excited about partnering with Black Bear and to be working with such an amazing group of actors for my directorial debut.”
