If you, like me, have lots of affection for the Critters franchise, it’s a pretty great time to be alive. Shudder recently released the web series Critters: A New Binge, and now, Critters Attack! is set to become the fifth feature film for the ravenous Krites.

Critters Attack! was shot on the DL earlier this year, and like surprisingly good sequel Leprechaun Returns, was co-produced and will make its TV debut on Syfy. The first Critters movie since 1992, Critters Attack! brings back Dee Wallace to the series.

IGN recently released the trailer for Critters Attack!, and while obviously pretty low budget, the movie looks like a ton of B-grade fun. The Krites also appear to be practical creations, and thank goodness, because CGI Krites just wouldn’t feel right at all.

Interestingly, it looks like Wallace is playing a new character in Critters Attack!, and not reprising her character from the original. Another intriguing development is the addition of a new white-haired benevolent Krite clearly meant to invoke Gremlins’ Gizmo.

Critters Attack! will invade Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital on July 23rd, and make its TV debut in October. Refreshingly, the film is rated R, so hopefully that means we get lots of gory kills as the Krites devour any hapless, tasty human that gets in their way.
