The more I see from Paramount’s Pet Sematary remake – or re-adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, depending on one’s viewpoint – the more I’m inclined to give it a chance. It seems like those involved are off to a solid start.
That said, I still don’t really think a remake is necessary, and I know I’m not the only one of that opinion. Mary Lambert’s 1989 film is still a great watch, and a very good adaptation of King’s book, despite some dated elements.
We’ll all find out if this new Pet Sematary is worth our time this April, but for now, Paramount has released a new short TV spot that features some never before seen footage. It also reveals our first look at the new Zelda.
A terrifying presence both in King’s source material and Lambert’s film, Zelda is Rachel Creed’s older sister, who slowly goes insane as she dies of spinal meningitis in flashbacks. Check out the new teaser directly below.
While the glimpse of Zelda 2.0 above is pretty brief, it’s still quite striking. It’ll be hard to top the scare factor of the Zelda scenes found in the 1989 movie, but directing duo Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer seem up for it.
Included below is an image from Zelda’s appearance in the TV spot, just in case you can’t watch the video for some reason. I’m still not sure how I feel about those weird people in animal masks, but at this point, I’m intrigued.
