Scream star, Courteney Cox who plays Gale Weather’s in the Scream universe came back to the role with ease and a new haircut that didn’t involve bangs. Those bangs that might be considered a crime in select other countries.
During a recent interview with Drew Barrymore on The Drew Barrymore Show, Cox spoke briefly and excitedly about Scream.
While Cox obviously can’t say much about the film and its production she did give us enough to get excited and even more intrigued with the whole “new launch” part of it.
“Scream this is the fifth one. It’s not Scream 5, though. This is Scream. The directors are incredible, they’re making it absolutely… it’s a new franchise. It’s hip, it’s scary. It’s just a new Scream. It’s not a reboot, it’s not a remake, it’s just a brand new launch. I think it’s going to be fantastic,” Cox told Barrymore.
Wow. So, Cox is really pushing the whole “new launch” bit. While she is also kinda shrugging off the whole reboot or remake words. We knew that this would be a sequel, and it is, but it sounds like there is something there that we don’t know about just yet… something substantial.
Could it be that there will be a meta take on the fact that the original cast is in the film at all? Maybe their interaction is Stab as a whole. Maybe the Scream films we have seen aren’t “real” in the new film. Could it be another New Nightmare situation? It would be a genius move. And it would be very Craven. At this point, I’m hoping for that sort of smart twist. If I’m right, you guys owe me a coke. Don’t forget! I won’t let you.
In any case it’s great to hear that Cox is super excited about the direction it’s headed.
