There’s really no stopping this powerhouse of a franchise anytime soon! With Annabelle: Creation creeping its way into theaters this Summer, The Nun already in production, and now word from producer Peter Safran of The Conjuring universe, talks the development of The Conjuring 3 as we follow the mysterious and fascinating lives of supernatural investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren.
According to CinemaBlend and a chat with Safran, the next chapter in The Conjuring series is aiming to stand out from the two prior films.
“There are some [cases] that maybe aren’t as well known, but they spent a fair bit of time researching and were part of [them]. Clearly, we can’t do another haunted house movie, right? We can’t do another supernatural possession in a house, with a family in peril. Right? So, it’s got to be something different than that, I think. There are a lot of places to go, and there’s a fair bit of material there.”
And there really has never been a truer statement. While the Warrens are infamous for the Amityville and Enfield Poltergeist cases, the dynamic paranormal duo that is all the relationship goals, have a ton of background in dealing with mythical creatures as well, such as Bigfoot, and the wonderful world of Lycans- Werewolves. And as a matter of fact, rumors have been swirling for some time taken from an interview with James Wan himself that the subject of werewolves COULD be the focal point for the next exciting chapter in the Conjuring-verse.
“Maybe we can go and do it like a classic American Werewolf in London style. That would be awesome! The Warrens set against the backdrop of The Hound of Baskerville. That would be awesome. Thank you!”
Of course, no one really knows what’s up Wan’s sleeves for the next sequel, and they’re keeping pretty tight lipped about it for now. For the time being, we can only speculate as they continue to drop hints our way. However, I’d be all for a Patrick Wilson vs Werewolves film. What say you?
