There are many reasons why attending San Diego Comic-Con should be on every geek’s bucket list, and there is so much to see and do that you’re likely to have your mind completely blown once you cross that goal off. FX, for example, went all out to tease the upcoming fifth season of American Horror Story this year.

Set to premiere on the network this coming October, we still know very little about American Horror Story: Hotel, as the cast has been revealed but the plot has not. We can of course assume that it’s set inside of a hotel, though specific details have been wrapped up tighter than Boris Karloff.

But we’ve been provided with a sneak peek at the season over at Comic-Con, as FX set up a massive and incredible display to promote the show. They literally designed an entire hotel that fans are allowed to walk through, invited to tour the premises and even enter to win weekend getaways.

The most telling thing about the faux set is that it seems to indicate that American Horror Story: Hotel will not take place in the present day, despite previous rumors that it would. As MTV notes, the Comic-Con display is modeled in the art deco style of the ’20s, ’30s, and ’40s, which provides a clue.

Lady Gaga, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Finn Wittrock, Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, Chloe Sevigny, Matt Bomer, Max Greenfield, Cheyenne Jackson and Wes Bentley comprise the cast of American Horror Story: Hotel.

Could AHS: Hotel be inspired by real-life killer H.H. Holmes? Or perhaps the tragic story of Elisa Lam? Click the links to read our theories!
