The trailer for Richard Stanley’s The Color Out of Space is here to officially trip you the hell out and to introduce you to some alpacas.
Based on a H.P. Lovecraft short story, Stanley has created a contemporary but faithful adaptation of work. I was lucky enough to see this at Fantastic Fest 2019 and boy, is it ever great and boy does it ever feature alpacas.
The story follows Nathan Gardner and his family living on a small farm. Gardner spends his days relaxing and enjoying his alpacas. All is well, until a meteorite crashes on the families farm. Slowly the landscape and the family begin to experience unnatural, horrifying changes of their environment and each other.
It’s a great film, with some intense colors and significant moments. One in particular scene in this film will stay with you forever. I still catch myself thinking about it in fact.
Also, did I mention the alpacas?
Color out of Space hits theaters Jan. 24, 2020.
