Clive Barker’s upcoming Books of Blood film just added three cast members to its lineup.

In addition to Anna Friel, Britt Robertson, Rafi Gavron and Yul Vazque, we now have Freda Foh Shen (Ad Astra), Andy McQueen (Farenheit 451 and Nicholas Campbell (Da Vinci’s Inquest) bringing Barker’s anthology to the screen.

The series is written by Adam Simon and Brannon Braga and is executive produced by Seth McFarlane.

Books of Blood will take three stories directly from Barker’s Books of Blood volumes.

Barker’s Books of Blood volumes contain some of my favorite short stories of all time and there is a lot of great content to pull from. My only question is, with a wealth of stories to pull from why not make this an anthology series as opposed to just being film?

Barker’s Books of Blood short stories have been adapted to screen in the past in the form of The Midnight Meat Train and Dread. And while, The Midnight Meat Train was a good film overall, it and other adaptations have failed to capture the true darkly macabre nature of Barker’s work.

Is there a particular Books of Blood volumes that you are hoping to see in this adaptation? Let us know your picks in the comments section.

Hulu’s Books of Blood is slated for fall 2020.
