Jeremy Gardner’s micro-budget isolation zombie movie — The Battery — swung onto the scene back in 2012 and effectively won the hearts of fans and critics alike. His next film, titled Something Else (premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival) sounds incredibly promising, and the release of a new clip from the film has us genuinely excited.
The film follows small-town bar owner Hank, who, 10 years into his small-town, storybook romance with Abby, suddenly wakes up to an empty bed in an empty home. With nothing but a cryptic note to explain why she left, Hank’s charmed life begins to fall apart. To make matters worse, Abby’s disappearance seems to trigger the arrival of a ferocious creature that crawls out of the old grove on the edge of his property.
The new clip — released by Entertainment Weekly — holds Gardner’s naturalistic style and keen eye for comedic timing. The clip shows Hank (Gardner) and Wade (played by Last Podcast on the Left‘s Henry Zebrowski) as they warily stalk through the brush in search of this unknown monster.
Something Else is written by Gardner and co-directed by Christian Stella, his frequent collaborator who worked as DP on The Battery and co-director on Tex Montana Will Survive!.
The film stars Jeremy Gardner, Brea Grant (Heroes, Halloween II, Beyond the Gates), Henry Zebrowski (Heroes Reborn, The Characters) and Justin Benson (The Endless).
