Debuting in 1984, the anthology TV series Tales from the Darkside is one of the true greats when it comes to horror TV shows, fondly remembered right alongside the likes of Tales from the Crypt, Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Amazing Stories. And guess what? IT’S COMING BACK!
Nearly 30 years after wrapping up its fourth and final season, Deadline reports today that Tales from the Darkside is headed back to the small screen, courtesy of The CW. The network originally envisioned the reboot as a half-hour series for this coming summer, but the project is now being piloted as an hour-long show for next season.
Stephen King’s son Joe Hill wrote the new adaptation of the anthology series. Hill, Robert Kurtzman and Bob Orci will executive produce with Heather Kadin, Mitch Galin and Jerry Golod for CBS TV Studios.
Created by George A. Romero, Tales From The Darkside had a four-year syndicated run, and was turned into a feature film in 1990. The horror anthology series took the viewer through ghost stories, science fiction adventures and creepy, unexplained events.
Is this awesome news or what?!
