As it turns out, there are actually two big nostalgia-fueled toy-focused franchise films coming to theaters on June 21st this year. What’re the odds?
The greatly beloved Toy Story returns with its fourth entry into the franchise, and everyone’s favorite friend-til-the-end Chucky makes another appearance in the Child’s Play reboot.
Having these two films go head-to-head at the box office is an interesting choice, but if the Child’s Play marketing team is telling us anything, Chucky ain’t here to play.

Andy is not going to be pleased.
It could be hard to say who will have the final victory in the box office, but Chucky’s certainly got some stiff competition. Horror fans are viciously loyal and have already proven to be a great support for box office revenue. However, the huge number of now-parents who grew up with Toy Story will definitely be dragging their kiddos out to theaters to see their childhood back on the screen.
At least it’s not going up against Avengers: Endgame.
Directed by Lars Klevberg, Child’s Play stars Mark Hamill, Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman, Brian Tyree Henry, and Tim Matheson.
