Legendary genre producer Robert “Bob” Shaye has taken a seat in the director’s chair for a new horror/thriller titled Ambition which is scheduled for release next month.
Shaye founded New Line cinema and played a major role in bringing the iconic A Nightmare on Elm Street to life along with other genre favorites like Freddy vs. Jason and Critters. In a career that’s lasted decades, however, he’s only taken on the mantle of director a handful of times with films like The Last Mimzy.
Ambition follows Jude, a driven, aspiring musician, who has entered a major competition that could have long-lasting effects on her career and her future. When her competitors begin to die, Jude fears she may be next, but could the truth be even more terrifying?
The film stars Katherine Hughes (My Dead Ex), Sonoya Mizuno (Maniac), Giles Matthey (True Blood), Kyanna Simone Simpson (Chambers), Jared Bankens (Venom), Deneen Tyler (Queen Sugar), Dylan McNamara (Detour), and Jordan Salmon (Avengers of Justice: Farce Wars).
Shaye’s sister, genre icon Lin Shaye (Insidious, Room for Rent) will also appear in a featured role in the film.
Ambition is set for release by Shout! Studios in select theaters and on VOD on September 20, 2019. Check out the trailer below!
