Season two of the new hit CW reboot of Charmed has arrived on Netflix with tons of magic, demons, and monsters to keep you intrigued.
Coming in at three fewer episodes than its debut season, the season finale only aired last week. It’s a quick turnaround for any show from network to streaming availability, but it’s not unheard of for the CW.
Tonally, season two was much different than the first. Their struggles this season came much more from finding their balance as a family rather than discovering their powers and what they could do. And while there are plenty of monsters and demons to face down by the time the final credits roll on episode 19, the greater threat comes from a human faction which causes no end of ethical issues.
What stands out even more is that while on the surface Mel (Melonie Diaz), Macy (Madeleine Mantock), and Maggie (Sarah Jeffery) are so very different from the original Charmed incarnation, they ultimately have much more in common with Prue (Shannon Doherty), Piper (Holly Marie Combs), Phoebe (Alyssa Milano), and Paige (Rose McGowan) than we first suspected.
Whether that will help or hurt the series as it moves forward remains to be seen.
Either way, the second season was plenty of fun, and the current sisters’ brand of magic packs a serious punch.
