Breaking news coming out of California today as we learned Charles Manson, notorious for brainwashing his cult of followers into mass murders of innocent people in the late 60’s, has been transported out of the Corcoran State Prison to the Bakersfield Hospital.

TMZ reports that sources say he is alive, but seriously ill due to gastrointestinal issues and could not disclose any further details about the underlying ailment that has Manson away from the cell where he is currently serving nine life sentences.

Manson, as ugly as it is to say, has become infamous for the ‘Manson Family Murders’ that included the slaughter of the beautiful, and very pregnant Sharon Tate, whom at the time was married to Rosemary’s Baby director Roman Polanski. The butchering of several more victims, which you can read more about in detail here, was spread across the greater Los Angeles area in an attempt to incite a racial war by targeting the elite of Hollywood’s finest. Other Manson Family sacrifices included writer Wojciech Frykowski and his partner, the coffee bean heiress Abigail Folger, celebrity hairstylist Jay Sebring, wealthy supermarket executive Leno LaBianca and his wife Rosemary.

While Manson never technically killed anyone by his own hand, the ‘Helter Skelter’ inspired cult leader coerced his followers to do his dirty work for him. This is what we call ‘murder by proxy’. A proxy murder is defined as a murder in which the murderer does so at the behest of another, acting as his or her proxy. With this information, many argue whether Charles Manson should actually be referred to as a true serial killer or not. ( I see this a lot on the Interwebs) However, the facts and circumstances regarding his involvement, are about as sinister and evil as you could get. One definitely cannot argue that at least.
