The trailer for Candyman is just around the corner. In fact, we have word that we will get our eyeballs on it this Thursday. Which, is super exciting. The film isn’t a remake as originally believed, but is instead a sequel.
Today, we finally get a small Candyman tease in the form of the official poster which is very subdued. It reveals a honey covered hook, with a lone bee chillin hookside. Along with that is the tagline “Dare to Say His Name” which is beyond fitting.
I don’t know if you guys were as scared as I was after your first screening, but I have yet to say Candyman in the mirror.
1992’s Candyman synopsis went like this:
Skeptical graduate student Helen Lyle (Virginia Madsen) befriends Anne-Marie McCoy (Vanessa Williams) while researching superstitions in a housing project on Chicago’s Near North Side. From Anne-Marie, Helen learns about the Candyman (Tony Todd), a knife-wielding figure of urban legend that some of her neighbors believe to be responsible for a recent murder. After a mysterious man matching the Candyman’s description begins stalking her, Helen comes to fear that the legend may be all too real.
The new film comes from Jordan Peele and Nia DaCosta and is one that we can’t wait for.
What do you guys think? Excited to see what Peele has in store for Candyman? Let us know in the comments section.
