Having played more than enough horror games and growing up with horror movies, very few things legitimately give me the willies or make me jump. That all changed recently when I played Five Nights at Freddy’s. The idea behind the game is quite simple, thus making it effective. You’re the new security guard at children’s favorite pizza place, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. Your job seems pretty easy, just sit and watch the several security cameras throughout the joint motoring the animatronic puppets… however late at night, they come to life and don’t like the idea of people present who aren’t in cute costumes. As you watch them through the cameras, you will notice that the puppets are getting closer and closer and when they are close enough, you can shut the security doors or turn on lights to check your blinds spots. All of this, mind you, will drain the limited power you have, so you have to make it last from midnight until 6 a.m. As the levels progress, the game gets more difficult and some of the puppets will run for the door at the last minute to get you! Keep in mind you rarely see them actually move, but eerily placed in the shadows (and stare at you) as the seemingly relocate throughout the place. The first time I saw that, I nearly jumped out of my seat in terror.
Welcome to your new summer job at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, where kids and parents alike come for entertainment and food as far as the eye can see! The main attraction is Freddy Fazbear, of course; and his two friends. They are animatronic robots, programmed to please the crowds! The robots’ behavior has become somewhat unpredictable at night however, and it was much cheaper to hire you as a security guard than to find a repairman. From your small office you must watch the security cameras carefully. You have a very limited amount of electricity that you’re allowed to use per night (corporate budget cuts, you know). That means when you run out of power for the night- no more security doors and no more lights! If something isn’t right- namely if Freddybear or his friends aren’t in their proper places, you must find them on the monitors and protect yourself if needed! Can you survive five nights at Freddy’s?
The looks of the puppets in this game is right out of a nightmare. What kid in their right mind would want to go to this pizza place?!
