Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams as done. But a new version of the character? That might be on the horizon.
Although Ash vs Evil Dead is officially over, Bruce Campbell confirmed that the series will live on in the form of a video game. Here’s a snippet from an interview with TV Insider:
It’s been a year since Ash vs. Evil Dead has left our screens. Do you think we will see another incarnation or installment within the Evil Dead universe, with or without Ash?
We’ll see more Evil Dead, that’s for sure. There is an Evil Dead video game out. A fully immersive video game probably within a year. I’m not sure about the day. There will be variations of that. There won’t be the original Ash anymore. That guy is done.
It’s very sad to hear Bruce Campbell talk like that about Ash, but if the Fede Alvarez’s 2013 remake proved anything, it’s that the universe of The Evil Dead can live on without the character. No, there could never be a suitable replacement for Campbell’s cunning wit and style, but we’ll take a different version for sure.
And, provided that a good development team is on board for the video game, a fully immersive experience in the twisted yet hilarious franchise that Sam Raimi created should be something that almost all fans can embrace. As of now, there are no other details on the game’s development.
Fans who need more Bruce in their life will be happy to know that the actor is the new host for Ripley’s Believe It Or Not!. In the same interview, The Chin Himself explained why he considers himself a good match for the program.
“It makes sense … A lot of people who are my fan base are very … let’s just say, ‘interesting’ people. It’s a pretty good fit for the extraordinary characters we are documenting.”
Thanks for the compliment, Mr. Campbell. We love you too.
