The annual Mardi Gras festival down in the “Big Easy”, is easily an event that appears on most party-goer’s bucket lists. However, if you find yourself on the very tip of the West Coast and not a lot of vacation time, it can be a bucket list item that can be a pain in the beads to check off. Well, you California residents and party animals on the Pacific side of America are in for a damn treat; and ESPECIALLY if you’re a horror fan. Matt Dorado, Creative Producer and Founder of Drunken Devil Productions, is bringing a horror themed Mardi Gras with all the trimmings of the seedy history of New Orleans embedded within, appropriately called Bloody Gras to the Downtown Los Angeles area!
Drunken Devil, known for their haunted attractions, has recently in the past year gone from said haunts, to creating once in a life time horror party experiences that cater your inner nightlife crawler. In the past year, the company hosted the disco inferno-themed L’Enfer: An Infernal Discotheque at Superchief Gallery, followed by the sold-out Halloween event, The Witches’ Ball. Now, the upcoming horror infused Mardi Gras event hitting the LA Arts District in February, is aiming to become an annual staple with Bloody Gras.
Event goers can expect all the debauchery that comes along with the big New Orleans festival but with an added horror flair, and an immersive horror theater experience one may not soon forget centering on the lore of the infamous Axeman of New Orleans. Guests will be able to participate in the narrative by attempting to banish the Axeman’s spirit through and interactions with the theater characters with some, disappearing throughout the course of the evening falling victim to the terrifying Axeman. Participators can search for clues that will be dispersed throughout the venue to help bring the horror legend’s rampage to an end. Pretty cool, eh?!
Guests will also be able to experience an interactive photo booth, strolling magicians Micah Cover (The Magic Castle) and Scott Michael (Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor). Other former Queen Mary’s performers, sword-swallowing Whodini Driftwood, and side-shower Twirly the Clown will be an attendance along with a stunning burlesque show featuring Scarlette Fox, Madeline Sinclaire, and Jessabelle Thunder. All while a Dixieland band reminiscent of the roaring 20’s performs on the main stage, and inviting guests to come dance with the Devil himself if you dare.
Now, it REALLY wouldn’t be a true Mardi Gras inspired event without endless booze, am I right? The 21 and over event will provide all the liquor you can handle. Just past the darkened bayou, event goers’ will have access to a booze-fueled jazz club and an open bar featuring, but no limited to New Orleans inspired cocktails.
Come dressed in your New Orleans, horror-inspired best this February 25, 2017 at 8:00 PM to experience this wildly unique horror party! Tickets are $75 and can be bought by clicking here at DrunkenDevil.com.
