One of my all-time favorite type of thing to watch is the genre anthology series, such as The Twilight Zone or Tales from the Crypt. I love the variety inherent to the format, and getting to see a new story told with new characters in every episode appeals to the same part of me that loves reading short story collections.

While anthologies that tell a new story each week are much rarer nowadays, one series working to keep the format alive is Netflix’s Black Mirror.

Set in the near future, Black Mirror focuses on the downsides of advanced technology, such as the way being connected all the time via electronic device has in many ways led people to be less connected on an emotional level.

It’s easy – and not incorrect – to call Black Mirror a sci-fi series, but the show can get quite horrific at times, and features some of the most soul-crushingly bleak endings in the history of TV.

Black Mirror season 4 is headed to Netflix pretty soon, and while an exact release date has yet to be revealed, a trailer has surfaced that includes all 6 episode titles.
