Horror legends Bill Moseley and Lin Shaye will team up for a new film titled Gothic Harvest, a new horror thriller set to release this fall. This is a match made in Hell, for sure.
Gothic Harvest is a horror thriller set in New Orleans, featuring story elements of Marie Laveau, the legendary real life Voodoo Queen. Ashley Hamilton will direct the film and also star alongside Shaye and Moseley. This will mark the directorial debut of Hamilton, who has also had a role in Iron Man 3. Chris Kobin wrote the script for Gothic Harvest. Previously, he wrote 2001 Maniacs, starring Robert Englund.
The story of Gothic Harvest follows:
“Four co-eds who head to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. When one of them goes missing after meeting a handsome local at a bar, the young woman’s friends race to find her before she falls victim to a centuries-old family curse by Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau.”
The movie will be released by Cinedigm Corp and will be releasing in on VOD as well as numerous other home video formats.
I don’t think I need to explain why this is exciting news – both Shaye and Moseley are bonafide B-movie heroes in this day and age. No, this isn’t a widespread theatrical release, but a lot of their roles are in movies that are outside of the Hollywood spectrum and I think they’re all the better for it. I love the DIY nature of many of their projects, and I believe many other fans will agree.
Hopefully we’ll get some pictures from the production set soon. Thanks to Deadline for the heads up!
For some New Orleans horror fun in the meantime, maybe it’s time to revisit Adam Green’s modern classic Hatchet.
