You guys, it’s finally here! The Banana Splits Movie arrives on digital streaming services this week.
Based on the popular kids show that ran from 1968-70, the new movie puts a decidedly Five Nights at Freddy’s spin on things.
The film centers on Harley (Finlay Wotjak-Hissong) who gets the ultimate birthday present from his parents: tickets to a live taping of his favorite show, The Banana Splits. They arrive, however, on the day when the show’s producer, Rebecca (Sara Canning) finds out that the show will be canceled.
Normally, that might not be such a big deal, but it seems that Fleegle, Snorky, Bingo, and Drooper, the show’s animatronic characters don’t take too kindly to be canceled and before you can ask the wise-cracking Cuckoo Clock “What time is it?” the audience and crew find themselves in a fight for survival.
Voice actor, Eric Bauza (Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) voices all four members of the Banana Splits Band.
Honestly, the show was always a little bit creepy with its over-sized animal characters played by actors in big fleecy costumes, but this takes the creep to a whole new level, and we’re honestly here for every minute of the schlocky campy goodness the film’s producers have promised us.
You can check out The Banana Splits Movie this week on digital on August 13, 2019 and look for the Blu-Ray and DVD release on August 27, 2019. The film will make its broadcast debut on SYFY in October!
