Upon watching the trailer for Dave Made a Maze, you might find yourself thinking about the video game Little Big Planet. In that game, like in the movie, you must travel through a handmade world filled with various textiles you would find in your crafty aunt’s sewing room.
Dave Made a Maze (2017) has just become available to stream on Arrow Video’s streaming platform. If you missed it, here’s your chance to catch up. This is a live-action horror movie made of cardboard and tape. The production team must have had a blast putting this all together because the premise is so darn fresh. Think of it as Saw through Martha Stewart’s eyes.
The main character Dave is bored at home while his girlfriend, Annie, is away. He decides to build a fort made entirely of cardboard in his living room. When he enters the fort it becomes a huge world beyond its outward dimensions and our hero gets trapped inside it.
Annie gathers their friends together to rescue Dave from his creation, but they also get lost inside the paper fortress having to dodge deadly traps among other things, like giant human-eating Tiki faces and a bloodthirsty Minotaur. The body count rises as the clan goes deeper and deeper into the labyrinth; blood literally flows like red tissue paper.
Dave Made a Maze is an inventive handcrafted comedy now available through Arrow Video on its streaming platform.
