Slender Man is finally making it to the big screen after being delayed for some retooling.

The movie, based on a creepypasta tale, has been criticised in the past for its attempt to take a story where real-life crimes took place, perhaps due to mental illness, and make it into a feature-length horror film.

But despite the controversy, fans seem to be intrigued by the story and are willing to go along for the ride.

This latest trailer gives a little more insight into the story about a group of friends who go into the woods to investigate the legend which includes unleashing the monster leading to one of them going missing.

The trailer is also liberal with images of the creepy Slender Man himself, seemingly stalking his victims relentlessly.

Slender Man is directed by Sylvain White and stars Joey King Julia Goldani Telles Jaz Sinclair Annalise Basso and Javier Botet.

The film is rated PG-13 and steps out of the shadows and into theaters on August 10.
